During the domination of the Three Swiss Grey Leagues (1512 – 1797) and in particular as underlined by the Statutes of Grosotto (SO) of 1544, the best vineyards were "tense", that is, "protected", by the guardians of the vines, the "arbostrari". Hence the name "Le Tense", representative of the vineyardsmore vocations than the Sassella subzone.
