The history of wine and vine in Calabria has its roots in an ancient past that of Magna Graecia when greek settlers from their mother land moved along the coasts of the peninsula and brought with them the gift vine of Dionysus and its noble fruits: the gaglioppo one of the most representative vines of Calabrian viticulture dates back to the 8th century BC. C. and was imported by the Greeks along the Ionian coast.
